Fabulous Felted Footwear workshop

Learn how to make your own sandals, shoes or ankle boots, with matching bag – functional, funky or fashionable!Wednesday 7th – Sunday 11th Oct 2020, 9.30-5.00 (Max. of 12) Natalya Brasovetskaya is a Ukrainian-born feltmaker and footwear designer who lives in Cyprus is visiting Adelaide again. She creates beautiful and unique footwear from handmade felt. Her designs include colourful summer sandals, lace-up shoes, chic ankle boots, and longer cosy boots. In these workshops, Natalya will share her knowledge and skills in making thick and strong handmade felt suitable for footwear, how to join these to soles, and add features such as eyelets, laces, and embellishments, all completed to a very high, professional standard. This 5-day workshop has a limit of 12 participants to ensure everyone gets plenty of personal time with Natalya. Cost: Early Bird rate, pay by 30 April: $580, from 1 May $630. Price includes tuition, use of specialist equipment, delicious lunch, all-day refreshments An additional materials fee is also payable for items to be ordered through Natalya. These include inner and outer soles, leather, heel boxes, and a pair of shoe lasts purchased to fit your foot size (some of you may already have lasts) plus specialist Bergschaff wool direct from the supplier. You will keep the shoe lasts and will be able to use them again and again to make many more pairs of shoes and sandals, so you will save money in the future – no need to buy commercially-made shoes and boots when make your own to this standard and in your own unique designs! Natalya estimates that the kit will cost a maximum of $160 for a pair of boots, less for sandals. As items are purchased by Natalya from overseas suppliers the price also includes shipping costs. Bookings are required by 1 July 2020 to allow for processing your foot measurements, ordering foot lasts and soles, and ensuring delivery from overseas. Venue: Cherry Gardens Memorial Hall, 312 Cherry Gardens Road, Cherry Gardens (near Blackwood). This is just 30 mins from Adelaide CBD and provides large and roomy space for workshops with indoor and outdoor work areas and two tables per person.
